He was chairing the teaching faculty and students at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan also spoke on the occasion. He said CPEC worth $46 billion would be beneficial not only for China and Pakistan but also for the people of the whole region. He added that the signing of the corridor project had paved the way for economic prosperity. He said that with the cooperation of China, the Karakoram highway, Karachi- Multan Motorway, Gwadar Port, and energy projects will help Pakistan pave the way towards prosperity. Talking about energy, he said Pakistan was facing the energy crisis. It (energy) is the engine for the economic development. He said that China is launching projects to address the energy crisis. He was of the view that China had emerged the largest country in term of investment in infrastructure, and other sectors in Pakistan. Talking about agriculture, he said that the both countries are meeting the demands of food for the huge population. He said that food security is the as important as "the heaven". He said that agricultural ties between two countries would be further boosted. He stressed upon the need to get benefit from each other experience. We have to explore more opportunity of agriculture and rural development. Talking about Confucius, he said that if you want to know about Chinese, you must have to know about Confucius, the great philosopher in China. He said ideas of Confucius advocated golden principles of life based on humanity, love and care for others and promotion of education. He said Confucius live for 72 years. In his life span, he directly transformed the lives of 3000 people. Out of them, 72 emerged as active preachers. He said China is excelling in every field of life owing to the education despite the fact it is the fifth largest country of the world population. Talking about the academic and cultural exchange programmes, he said that there is the great potential of deepening mutual cooperation in academia and research programmes. He said that language is bridge and window for coming close to each other. China has established Confucius Centres for the cultural exchange in Pakistan. He added CI had also been established at UAF that will help bring agricultural students and experts closer to each other. He was of view that UAF has played an important role in agricultural development and cooperation. He said that UAF and Xinjiang University collaboration would help them to learn from each other and it should be further extended. He also visited the Confucius Centre here. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan called for further cementing agricultural ties with China. He said China was working on setting up agricultural zones that will being property in agriculture and rural development. He offered the UAF partnership in the project. He said that Chinese universities were proving their mettle globally and rubbing shoulder with USA universities. He said that UAF believes in knowledge diversification and 20 UAF faculty members had completed their PhDs from China and several are perusing their degrees there. He stressed upon the need to learn from China experiences in agriculture, industry and economic development. He said that 500 Confucius Institute were working across the globe in 100 countries. He hoped that UAF CI students would become the part of Chinese activities. He said that under the CI, Chinese language and cooking courses were being offered. He said that the UAF was setting up Punjab Bio Energy Institute in collaboration with china that would promote the bio energy in the country. He said that under the CI UAF, Chinese language, cultural and cooking courses were being offered. UAF CI Vice Chairman Prof Dr Ashfaq Chatha said that CI has completed 2 basic language courses, two are in progress and the enrolment for fifth courses has started. He said Chinese cooking courses are also being run here. He said that students of UAF CI had won two silver and 12 bronze medal.
