Committed, skilled and trained teachers are the guarantee of a bright future as no nation can make development without the quality education, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing lecturers and assistant professors of the UAF on Saturday at New Senate Hall, UAF. Registrar Ch. Muhammad Hussain conducted the proceedings. He urged the teaching community to become self accountable, and perform their duties effectively by creating the teachers-students friendly environment. He said that progress of countries is being determined by their number of brilliant students pursuing higher education. Only the knowledge economies are going to be successful in future. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of Punjab Government for promotion of education. He said that it was the hallmark step that the government has doubled the number of scholarships under PEEF as one lakh students would be provided scholarships this year whereas the scholarships will be awarded to 200,000 students next year. He added that the teaching is an art in which the perfection is needed. He said that it was their duty to equip the students with skills and moral values in order to steer the country out of the different challenges. He said that community-industry and farming community demanded out-of-the-box solutions to their problems. For which, the preachers should come up with the innovative ideas. "The researches have to come out of isolation and stressed upon the need to lower down the silos. He urged the researchers to work jointly to solve the problems of the stakeholders, industry and farming community. He said that UAF was having the talented manpower and teaching community of 670. Out of which, as many as 410 are PhDs. The UAF in the recent past has appointed 51 new lecturers in a one go in order to lower down the teachers students ratio. He said that the UAF believed in diversity of knowledge. He said that 100 scholarships were being provided to UAF faculty, administration, and students under the USAID funded Centre for Advanced Studies.The House also prayed for the departed soul of Saima Ijaz Lecturer UAF.
