Like other part of the country, National Defense Day was observed at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad with national enthusiasm, fervour and zeal to pay tributes to the heroes of 1965 war. The day began with a minute's silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in order to protect nation's frontiers. The main function was arranged at New Senate Hall. Addressing on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the county was achieved after great sacrifices. Now, it is our duty to work with dedication, honestly and devotion to end poverty from the region and provide the basic facilities of life to the under-privileged people. While paying homage to martyrs, he saluted the Pakistan Army for their great sacrifices with lives to safeguard the country. He stressed upon the people to understand the message of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and follow it in order to flourish and prosperity of the country . The New Senate Hall was echoed with speeches and mili nagmas presented by the students of the University and UAF run Laboratory High School. The national songs including Hum Zinda Qum Haan, A Rahay Huq Ka Shahedo and Watan Piyara Watan and many more . The walk was also taken out that started from Admin Block and ended at Iqbal Auditorium. Prayers were also offered for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the country.
