The University of Agriculture Faisalabad and multinational company Sumitomo are collaboration to introduce a new product for dengue control in order to prevent the rearing of dengue larvae at stagnant water.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad and multinational company Sumitomo are collaboration to introduce a new product for dengue control in order to prevent the rearing of dengue larvae at stagnant water. The product will be mixed in the stagnant water like swimming pools, water tanks, fountains, etc that will eliminate the rearing of dengue larvae for the period of three months. It was discussed by the delegation of Sumitomo led by Karino from Singapore at a meeting with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at VC Chamber. At the delegation, foreign experts included Dr Serit Munny from Malaysia, Ken Nakanoshi from Japan, Karoni and Ong from Singapore. UAF experts including Chairman Department of Entomology Prof Dr Jalal Arif, Prof Dr Waseem Akram, Prof Dr Mansoor-ul-Hassan Sahi, Dr Muhammad Arshad, Dr Khurum Zia, Dr Shahid Majeed and others were also present on the occasion. The foreign experts said that Sumitomo and UAF had joined hand to work together research and development activities for the control of dengue and other mosquitoes. They praised that tangible steps were being taken by the government and through this steps, the process of the controlling dengue will be expedited, the country a dengue free country Talking to the meeting, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that Punjab Government was making all-out efforts to control the dengue and save the precious lives from the disease. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was personally looking after the steps being taken to control the virus. He said that the UAF was opened for the intentional partner to work together for the noble cause. Dr Jalal Arif said that the UAF Entomology Department would provide expertise in the testing of the product at their laboratories.
