As many as 12 Afghan national students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad got scholarships under the Prime Minister Scheme of Scholarship for the academic year 2014- 15.

As many as 12 Afghan national students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad got scholarships under the Prime Minister Scheme of Scholarship for the academic year 2014- 15. University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan distributed the cheques among the students. He was flanked by the Director Financial Aid Dr Hafeez Sadaqat. Each student is getting 80,000 rupees scholarship. Addressing on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan Government was making all-out efforts for the cause of education and providing the rays of the education to the deserving students. He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are the brother countries based on religion and common values. He added that the education was the only tool that can bring prosperity and development in any countries. He added that the government has earmarked Rs 71 billion for the education in the budget whereas it was Rs 48 billion last year that would bring tangible results to fight the different challenges. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan distributes PM Scholarship cheque to an Afghan student He said that UAF was branded as agriculture and educational institution meant for the agriculture, rural development and food security of the country. He said that UAF takes the students on the quota bases with the special focus on rural areas. Around 35 percent of the students of the UAF are getting the scholarships to continue their studies. He said that financial sponsorship of deserving and merited students helped to bring a positive and healthy social change in the long run. Hafeez Sidaqat said that UAF is extending the Financial Assistance to needy and deserving Students in the shape of scholarship program, internship program, work-study program and the student loan scheme. He said that in the era when it is hard to meet the both ends, it has become difficult for the resource poor section of the society to educate their children. Under the circumstances, financial sponsorship of deserving and merited students is helping continue their studies and create soothing impact on the community.
