As many as 121 postgraduate and 25 undergraduate deserving and talented students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad got scholarships under the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) for the academic year 2014- 15

As many as 121 postgraduate and 25 undergraduate deserving and talented students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad got scholarships under the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) for the academic year 2014- 15. In this regard, a certificate and card distribution ceremony was held at Iqbal Auditorium, in which Directorate of Financial Aid, UAF, Director Dr Hafeez Sadaqat, PEEF Disbursement Manager Nasir Subhani and Chairperson Home Economics distributed the scholarship. Addressing on the occasion, Nasir Subhani said that the PEEF (PEEF) was initially set up with seed money of Rs.2 billion, which has now been raised to more than Rs. 13 billion. Since the commencement of its operations in 2009; PEEF has so far awarded more than1,00,000 scholarships. He said the PEEF was awarding 20,000 scholarships every year. He said PEEF is a proactive scholarship scheme which provides funds at the doorstep of the talented and deserving students. Allocation of these scholarships is on the basis of Tehsils level so that students of that tehsil compete with the students of the same tehsil. He said that the aim of the fund is to promote academic excellence by providing financial support to talented students to help them to realize their potential. This program envisages developing the overall personality of students and creating a critical mass of talented students that will contribute to the development of the society. He said it provides an opportunity for talented and less privileged students to get the rays of edcatuion at par with the more fortunate one.. Director Dr Hafeez Sadaqat said that around 1000 UAF students got the scholarship under the PEEF so far. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the Punjab Government for the cause of education and provides the rays of the education to the deserving students who cannot afford. He said that financial sponsorship of deserving and merited students helped to create soothing impact on the community and bring a positive and healthy social change in the long run. He said that the PEEF was the umbrella for the low income class so that their talented children could continue their studies that would lead to the bright future. He said that the education was the prerequisite to compete with the rest of the world and tangible steps are afoot to increase the literacy rate.
