Women sports gala organized by Office of Chief Hall Warden, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad will establish state-of-the-art gymnasium and swimming pool for the women in order to provide them modern facilities, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing at the prize distribution ceremony of the women sports gala organized by Office of Chief Hall Warden, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. He said that the women ratio at the campus has touched to 50 percent and the university was making all out efforts to provide them latest facilities. He called for developing the sports man spirit so that challenges in the life can be met easily. He said that the gender ratio in the postgraduate programs is 50 percent women. img The Day Care Centre, Women Complex, Counseling Centre, Career Development Centre, have been added to facilitate the students. He said women empowerment was prerequisite to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. He said UAF was taking many initiatives to narrow the gender gap including residential and sports facilities for women. Four year ago, only 40 female teachers were serving at the campus against the current women teaching staff of 150. Chief Warden Prof Dr Muhammad Amjad Punjab Government funded mega project of women hostel for 1000 students was being set up whereas another hostel for 1000 women funded by federal government had been approved. Hall Warden Bushra Sadia said that 163 women from eight hostels had participated in different sports including athletics, tug-of-war, badminton, basket ball and table tennis and others. Chairman Sports Board Prof Dr Ahsan-ul-Haq said that all out efforts were being made to provide state-of-the-art sports facilities to the students. . Member Selection Board Rabia Sultan along with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan also distributed the prizes among the winners of the gala.
