University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan on Tuesday called for promoting book reading habit that will foster the culture of harmony, love and tolerance in the society. He inaugurated five-day book fair arranged by the UAF at its main library in which renowned publishers from four corners of the country staged their stalls. Speaking to the participants, the Vice Chancellor said book reading habits need to be promoted among the people as the habit helps in ideological growth of the people. He said that significance of books is imperative for the development. The importance of books remain intact in the in this era of technology. He said that the fair was aimed at promoting the reading habits among the youth which is showing declining trend. He said that the book reading will ensured development of nation and the country. He said that UAF was setting up another state-of-the-art three-story library comprising 39,000 square feet in which a heavy space will be given to the e-library keeping in view the new trends. The Vice Chancellor was flanked by Registrar Muhammad Hussain, Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri, Dean Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Javaid, Dean Agri Engineering Prof Dr Allah Bukhsh, Director HR Shafqat Iqbal, Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Aslam, DSA Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Director External Linkages Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, and Chairman Forestry Prof Dr Tahir Siddique, Principal Officer Student Affairs Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Director Extension Prof Dr Tanvir Ali and other officials of the varsity. Scores of literature lovers thronged the event to have the delight of the books reading in which books ranging from all disciplines ranging from arts to sciences were put on the display.
