Gender mainstreaming is essential to make the progress and to compete with the rest of the world, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing prize distribution held in connection with Pakistan Day. He quoted the sayings of Quaid-e-Azam that with faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve. He called for devoting all our energies to work for the development. He stressed upon the need for active participation of women in the socio-economic activities by recalling the saying of the great Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah: “no nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take its women along with the men.” Talking about UAF initiatives for students, he said that a state of the art Student Facilitation Centre is being set up at the Varsity to facilitate the students. He said that a hostel for 1000 women funded by the Punjab Government was being set up at the campus. He said that UAF to have another 1200 students hostel worth Rs 480 million funded by the federal government. He said that under the Bio Energy Centre being established at UAF would also have the 250 students hostels. In the hostels competition, Qaddafi Hall , Amna Hall, Faisal Hall, Iqbal hall and Khadija Hall won the competition in the different group of 25 hostels. Hall Warden Prof Dr Amajd Aulakh, Prof Dr Muhammad Younas PO Students Affairs, Director ORIC Prof Dr Asif Ali, Prof Dr Abdus Salam Khan, Former Principal TT Singh Campus Prof Dr Zia, Prof Dr ZA Zahir, Dr. Ahsan Ul Haq, Prof Dr Shahbaz Talib Sahi and others spoke on the occasion.
