The University of Agriculture Faisalabad remained a centre for attraction for tent pegging lovers on Friday as it was opened under UAF ongoing six-day Spring Festival that will continue till March 23. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan inaugurated the tent pegging. The day witnessed single and team riders waving spears to collect the wooden peg amid clouds of dust rising from the grounds. The rider hanging halfway down while galloping with high speed to lift the piece of wood with spear is a main source of attraction for speculators. The tent pegging is being played at national level in the nineteen countries of the world. Addressing on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the festival is aimed at providing a platform to farming community, agricultural scientists, stakeholders, policy makers and civil society to sit together for addressing the issue of agriculture sector. Office Bearer of Farmer Associates of Pakistan Afaq Tiwana, UAF member Syndicate Manzoor Ahmad Thakka, UAF Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Arshad, Director Farms Dr Riaz Ahmad Virk, Dr Ahsan-ul-Haq, Dr Ahsan Chahal, Rana Muhammad Amir and other notables were present on the occasion. The spring festival is bringing colorful events including tent pegging, milk competition, Agricultural exhibition, Kissan convention and cultural show, etc. On March 21 (Saturday) , agricultural exhibition will commence at 10:00 am . On March 22 (Sunday), farmer convention will start at 10:00 am and cultural show at 8:00 pm. On March 23 (Monday), prize distribution of agricultural exhibition and tent pegging will be held. The hostels competition in connection with Pakistan Day will be organized at 8:00 pm.
