Korean Ambassador in Pakistan Dr Song Jong Hwan, on Friday said that Korean organizations are bringing Korean agricultural crops and technology in Pakistan aiming at to make analysis of the cropping, harvesting and handling techniques to explore new joint ventures and opportunities of boosting mutual ties. Holding meeting with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan in his chamber, the Korean Ambassador said that a Korean organization Oaks-CAF is planting saplings of various vegetables, fruits and fodders at UAF Farms on trail basis to witness the growth potential in Pakistan. Korean Ambassador Dr Song Jong Hwan holds meeting with UAF VC Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at his chamber Dr. Song Jong Hwan, praising the leadership skills of UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, said that UAF blessed with such a leader with enormous potential and energy to work for good cause. He vowed to address the University Students in near future to give them a brief introduction about the Korea and its initiatives that led the country towards development and prosperity. Visiting the livestock farmers participating in the cattle show at UAF, he vowed to send the winning farmer to Korea to exchange his skills with Korean cattle farmers. He said the Saumaul program has set new trends in the world through its pro-poor and rural development schemes. The Korean Ambassador was of the view that with more than 22 percent share in national GDP of the country, agricultural development in Pakistan could pave a long way towards rural and industrial development that would lead to poverty alleviation. Briefing about the University, UAF VC Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said a Korean expert Shin Sang Chull was undertaking various experiments at UAF Farms by brining and planting Korean sapling to analyses the growth potential and production that would be shared with UAF experts. He said that UAF has signed an MOU with University of Yenugnam, Korea to collaborate in the areas of research, knowledge exchange programme for rural and agriculture development. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the food security is the one of the areas of the concerns. Most of the population of the country was living in the rural areas and associated with the agriculture sector. If we adopt the latest methods of agriculture, it will not only boost up the agriculture production but also help in poverty alleviation. He said that the UAF was especially working on the rural development. Later, the visiting ambassador paid visits to various adaptation trails of Korean plants at UAF.
