The University of Agriculture Faisalabad renowned professor, literary person and Senior Tutor Prof Dr Aslam Pervez has passed away at the age of 59 years.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad renowned professor, literary person and Senior Tutor Prof Dr Aslam Pervez has passed away at the age of 59 years. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Pervez who was working as Director, Institute of Horticultural Sciences, has obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Wales (U.K.) in 1995. Earlier, he got his M.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture degree from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 1982. In next year (1983), he joined the Horticulture Department as a Lecturer. He completed his two Post-Doctorates from University of Wales, Bangor, U.K. in 2005 and Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia in 2007 respectively. He had served as Horticulture Engineer in Dubai, U.A.E. and had been serving the university for more than 30 years and has a vast experience as a teacher, researcher and an administrator. He has published more than 121 research papers in journals with impact factor and with national and international repute and more than 125 popular articles have been published in the national papers and magazines. He is the author of many books published at national and international level. He has received Star Award in 2003 and 2007 from South Asian publications, Karachi-Pakistan and Endeavor Award in 2007 and 2010. He has visited many countries to attend seminars/workshops and represented the university at several platforms at international level. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while applauding his countless contribution to the academia, research and extra-curriculum activities said that Dr Aslam Pervez was a much finer person, well read, sensitive human being, excellent teacher and researcher, proactive and helpful individual. He said that his departure is an irreparable loss to the UAF community. “He was bold enough to tell the truth and be a part of progressive thinking. As senior tutor, he transformed the office into a center of activities on the campus.”Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan further said: “for students, Aslam Pervez was a father, a mentor and a passionate leader. He has left a lasting mark in the history of extracurricular activities. Professionally, Aslam Pervez made significant research contribution in the area of vegetable production.
