The Higher Education Commission (HEC) conferred “Best University Teacher Award 2012-13” on Tuesday December 23, 2014 to 45 professors from various public and private sector universities across the country.

Dr. Asif Ali​, Professor from Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Faculty of Agriculture​ won the "Best University Teacher Award 2012- 2013”​ by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The Higher Education Commission (HEC) conferred “Best University Teacher Award 2012-13” on Tuesday December 23, 2014 to 45 professors from various public and private sector universities across the country. The HEC commenced the award in 2004 for a period of five years under a project to recognize the research and theoretical contributions of teachers. The awards comprise a cash prize of Rs100,000 and a certificate. Over the last nine years, 368 awards were given ‘outstanding professor’ awards. At the HEC, around 85 nominations were received from 45 public sector universities and another 18 from 11 private sector universities. The nominations were placed before the awards committee which selected 45 teachers for the best university teacher award. The awards was conferred at HEC headquarters. For the latest awards, teachers from various public and private sector universities of the federal capital and other provinces have been nominated. The nominees include 11 teachers from Punjab, seven from Sindh, six teachers from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, two from Balochistan and one teacher from Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, 10 teachers from 10 private sector varsities were also nominated for awards.
