The country can overcome conflicts among the different segments of society, prejudice, and intolerance by promoting the message of Sufi Saint Bullah Shah based upon harmony, brotherhood and peace, said UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing a large gathering of renowned saint Bullah Shah’s lovers gathered at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad to have the delight of performances of drama tilted “Bulla” in which rich tribute was paid to Sufi Saint Bullah Shah. The drama, presented by Ajoka Theatre, was the part of ongoing five-day drama festival arranged under the banner of Office of Senior Tutor, UAF. The festival will continue till December 16. Five renowned national theater groups are taking part. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said Bulleh Shah had not only strengthened the Muslim movements in the subcontinent but also helped eliminate social differences from society. Bulleh Shah was a beacon of hope who emphasized upon the need for tolerance and love when there was prejudice and hatred all around. The Ajoka team has just come back to Pakistan after performing the drama Bullah in India. In the drama, the oppressed situation of Muslims in 18 century and anarchy in the subcontinents was portrayed. The story was revolving around contribution of Bullah Shah. The drama educated the gathering that Bulleh Shah (1680-1758) lived in the times of the downfall of the Mughal Empire. The people were facing conflicts, rebellions, civil and religious strife and total ideological and political chaos, times essentially not much different from the present day.
