Directorate of Outreach - Overview

We are enthusiastic about transforming and amplifying the societal impact of our institution. The Directorate serves as a dynamic bridge connecting academic excellence with the aspirations of farmers, industries, other stakeholders, communities and the public. Our mission is to excel in agriculture and related sciences and ensure that our innovations and expertise contribute to the prosperity of society at large.

Some key updates and initiatives include:

  1. Fostering Community Empowerment
    We continue to advance our commitment to uplifting rural communities through tailored outreach programs. These initiatives provide farmers, entrepreneurs, and students with practical solutions to challenges in agriculture, livestock management, water conservation, and food security.

  2. Building Research and Industry Synergy
    We are intensifying partnerships with industries and research organizations. By uniting academic rigor with practical applications, we aim to co-create solutions for the emerging challenges to the agriculture industry.

  3. Capacity Development
    The Directorate offers and facilitates the organization of a range of capacity-building events including workshops, seminars, farmer/field days, expos, Rabi/Kharif festivals, animal shows and training modules tailored for diverse audiences including students, professionals, farmers and industry.

  4. Sharing Knowledge Through Publications and Social Media
    The research highlights, newsletters, and extension materials developed by academia are accessible to the public and promoted through social media. These resources encapsulate our key achievements in agricultural practices and impactful interventions.

  5. Women Empowerment
    Women play a major role in the field of agriculture as well. We are determined to improve knowledge, develop and enhance skills of females of the rural areas and the extension workers related to better income generation for improvement of their livelihood.

The key outreach activities conducted include trainings for house hold processing of fruit crops, green manuring, tree plantation drives, kitchen gardening, sharing production technologies of different crops, post-harvest management of field and horticultural crops, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping and bee farming, pest and disease management in crops, food preparation and preservation, rehabilitation of flood affected farmers, social organization, dairy farming, animal production and management, peri-urban horticulture and dairy farming, seed production and distribution, awareness campaigns, silage preparation, tourism expos, career development, digital excellence, different training programs under CPEC program, dying and stitching, child care, art and craft management, biotechnology and data science for crop health etc.
