Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences - The Dean

Professor Dr. Imran Pasha obtained his PhD in Food Technology from UAF, Pakistan, and completed two Post Doctorates, one from USDA-Western Wheat Quality Lab., WSU, Pullman, USA, and second from Curtin University, WA, Australia. Currently serving as Professor, acting Dean, Faculty of Food Nutrition and Home Sciences, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Dr. Imran Pasha is also working as a Central Project Director of Pak-Korea Nutrition Centre being sponsored by KOICA and HEC, Government of Pakistan. Further, Dr. Imran brings over 22 years of teaching and research expertise to his role. His research interests span Food Science & Technology, Nutrition, Grain Science, Food Fortification, Milling and Baking Science, Value Addition and Food Analysis.


Throughout his career, Dr. Imran has supervised 173 M.Sc. (Hons.) and 14 PhD students and has authored 167 publications in reputable journals with his Impact Factor exceeding 500. He has successfully led 20 research projects including HEC-World Bank project like TDF, TTSF etc and also various ongoing projects. He has been honored with the Research Productivity Award by the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology several times. Notably, he received the Best Young Research Scholar Award in 2016 from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Best University Teacher Award in 2022 at the university level, among other honors.


Dr. Imran's professional engagements extend internationally, having visited 11 countries for conferences, presentations, and training sessions. He serves as a member Board and Scientific Panel of the Punjab Food Authority and holds memberships in various national and international food science and nutrition associations/societies.


An active participant in capacity-building workshops, Dr. Imran has undergone training in areas such as GAPs Workshop from the USA, Food & Health Entrepreneurship from UC-Davis, USA and Agriculture Productivity Enhancement in Pakistan from South Korea. He has also conducted numerous training sessions for industry stakeholders, consumers, and government officials, including workshops on wheat flour fortification for District Food Controllers of Punjab and HACCP in wheat flour for Government Officials of the Food Department.


Dr. Imran has further contributed to the field through consultancy work, notably playing a key role in developing the "Punjab Food Fortification Strategy" with the Punjab Food Department and a strategy on sustainable rice residue management for WWF-Pakistan.

The Faculty of Food Nutrition and Home Sciences (FFNHS) is playing a transformative role in shaping the future of students. It’s providing comprehensive education under “National Institute of Food Science and Technology” and “Institute of Home Sciences” that blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills in Food Science and Technology, Food Safety and Quality Management, Dairy Technology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Economics, Human Development and Family studies, clothing and textiles and related disciplines. The internationally established project Pak Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC) is the historical initiative of its kind, dedicated to enhance child and community nutrition through innovative projects via training government officials, policymakers and nutritionists to drive impactful change. Through a focus on research and innovation, the Faculty equips students with the critical thinking, technical expertise and hands-on experience needed to excel in food, dietetics, community development, home economics and associated fields. The emphasis on real-world applications and research prepares graduates not only for successful careers in industry, academia, and healthcare, but also foster leadership and entrepreneurial skills. By nurturing a culture of creativity and scientific inquiry, our under and post graduate students have made significant contributions to future advancements and innovations, driving national growth and improving quality of life for communities. We have also started some initiatives for better health and nutrition and community development at different levels. All Faculty consists of skilled and esteem members and our graduate students are working in many Govt. Regulatory Authorities and professional fields at National and International level.
