FAISALABAD Feb 19: In the face of decreasing literary activities trend in the young generation, it is prerequisite to promote a literary environment where intellect and creative thinking flourishes and helps the people minutely observe the culture, circumstances and the world. It was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan while talking to the participants of Mehfil-E-Mushaira and other events being held at ongoing four-day UAF Lyallpur Art and Literature Festival. Prominent poets including Tahzeeb Hafi, Ali Zaryoun, Mah-e-Nau, Akhtar Munir, Ikram Arfi, and students from various educational institutions participated, engaged the audience with their poetic expressions. The 3rd day of the Fest included Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Agri Media Fest, Character Portrayal Competition, APDC (Declamation Competition), and Sufi Night. Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan said that literature opened the minds to think and explore the world in a new way. Art and literature shape progressive and enlightened society, he said, adding that the university has established Waris Shah Chair under which tangible research would be carried out on the saint poet and get guidance from his wisdom. He said that such festivals provide a vital platform for young minds to express their creativity, appreciate cultural heritage, and engage in intellectual discourse. Senior Tutor Dr Muhammad Iftikhar encouraged students to actively participate in creative endeavors, ensuring that the spirit of art and literature continues to thrive in academic and social spheres. Dr Asim Aqeel said fusion of art and literature not only nurtures talent but also fosters critical thinking and innovation. Moreover, the National Summit “Transforming Pakistan 2025” organized by Young Peace and Development Crops (YPDC) featured policy presentations from students of more than twenty universities who proposed research-based solutions addressing economic challenges, agricultural transformation, and IT advancements. Chaudhary Arif Mehmood Gill MPA and Chairman Punjab Communication & Works Committee attended the event as chief guest. Dr Asif Kamran, Dr Benash Sarwar, Masood Textile Mills Director HR Nasir Ali Zia, and others also attended the event.
