FAISALABAD Mar 25: University of Agriculture Faisalabad took out a rally to mark World Water Day. The walk commenced form Department of Irrigation and Drainage and concluded at University Clock Tower. In his message, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that Pakistan is ranked among the top countries vulnerable to climate changes. He said that worldwide, glaciers are melting faster than ever. Our frozen world is shrinking, making the water cycle more unpredictable. He said meltwater flows are changing, causing floods, droughts, and landslides etc. He called for enhanced efforts to address the issue. Dean Agriculture Engineering Dr Anjum Munir said that saving our glaciers is a survival strategy for people and the planet. He said that the theme of World Water Day 2025 is ‘Glacier Preservation’. He said that we must work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and manage meltwater more sustainably for people and the planet. Dr Adnan Shahid said rapidly melting glaciers are causing uncertainty to water flows, with profound impacts on people and the planet. He said that we must work together to put glacier preservation at the core of our plans to tackle climate change and the global water crisis. Dr Nadem Akbar, Dr Haroon Zaman, Dr Fahad Rasul and other notables spoke on the occasion.
