FAISALABAD June 27: Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of Indonesia H.E Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma on Saturday said that Indonesia and Pakistan agriculture, academic and trade bilateral ties will be strengthened to get benefit from each other experiences and fight the common challenges. . He visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and called on UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali, deans and directors. He also stressed upon the need to enhance the people to people contact that will bring the both nations closer. He said Pakistani students were studying in Indonesia and his country was providing ample opportunity of scholarships from which Pakistani students should get benefitted. He said that we should also enhance research collaboration and faculty students exchange programs for betterment in the agricultural field. He hailed the steps being taken on the part of UAF for agricultural sector. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that strengthened relations would help get benefit from each other experiences and meet the challenges of the modern era. He said that the food security was one of major concerns. He said that 40 percent of our population is malnourished. He said that UAF was the first university in Pakistan to start the Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree program He said that under International partnership, the university was housing Chinese Confucius Institute, the language and culture exchange center; International Seed Testing Lab; the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNS), Center for Advanced Studies and others. He briefed about various high-yielding wheat, maize, cotton, sugarcane, mango, okra, soybean, backyard poultry, and others varieties developed by UAF scientists, contributing to national food security. He said that the establishment of language center would break down the language barrier and promote mutual understanding among the people of both countries. He added that Indonesian language courses can be started in UAF with collaborations. He also visited expo center, Center for Advanced Studies and Pak Korea Nutrition Center and lauded the UAF products and knowledge exchange.
