FAISALABAD Sep 11: Strong academia-industry ties in agriculture sector, value addition, need-based research and translating the knowledge into goods and services will help address the issues of low productivity and agricultural challenges. For which we have to pace up our efforts to ensure the food security. It was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali while addressing the Agri-connect: An interactive session for strengthening linkages. He said that university is taking all possible measures to ensure the tangible research work and strengthening outreach programs. He also invited the industry to provide their input in curricular review process to produce skilled manpower. He said that climate changes and soil degradation was posing serious threats to the agriculture sector. Dean Agriculture Dr Ghulam Murtaza said that in the face of numerous agricultural challenges, it is need of the hour to modernize agri practices that will not only increase the per acre production but also bring economic boost. Chairman Entomology Dr Waseem Akram said that the country needs to promote precision agriculture for the optimum usage of resources and raise income of farming community. He said that in the session practitioners from industry and farmers were invited to discuss the way forward to ensure agrarian uplift.
