The meeting of Regional Agriculture Forum Central Punjab set up by Agriculture Department Punjab.

FAISALABAD October 6 : The meeting of Regional Agriculture Forum Central Punjab set up by Agriculture Department Punjab has reaffirmed commitment for collaborative efforts on the part of academia, research, extension, farming community and industry with integrated approach for ensuring food security, align target with emerging challenges and agricultural and rural development. The meeting chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali was attended by Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Additional Secretary, Taskforce, Agriculture Department; Chief Agriculture Scientists Dr Qurban Ali, Dr Javed Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Ijaz; Directors Agriculture Extension Arif Siddique, Khalid Mehmood, Shahid Hussain, Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Dr Irfan Ullah; Progreseive Grower Syed Faisal Hassan Shah, Dr Khalid Aziz form Rafhan Maize, M Idress from Four Brothers, Ahsan Bajwa from Farm Dynamics; UAF Dean Agriculture Dr Ghulam Murtaza, Director Agriculture Policy Dr Asif Kamran, Director Graduate Studies Dr Khalid Bashir, Director Outreach Dr Rashad Rasool, Director External Linkages Dr Muhammad Tehseen Azhar, Director Academic Dr Hafizah Shafia Tehseen Gul and other notables. The central Punjab agricultural forum consists of six divisions including Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, and Gujrat. The meeting noted that crop wise collaborative efforts on all stakeholders be enhanced and demonstration fields will be jointly set to showcase the modern technology and create the awareness among the farmers. They also underlined the need to map out strengthen and weakness in the agriculture sector for a better tomorrow. The meeting also reviews arrangement of wheat campaign this year to be run by UAF and Extension Department in November. The feedback of the farmers on current agricultural situation will be framed on the scientific bases during the drive to formulate policy recommendations. The meeting also discussed the Adjunct faculty avenue at UAF from the Agriculture Department. The meeting also called for strong academic industry linkages, knowledge sharing, foster innovation and commercialization of research and development.
