World Food Day.

FAISALABAD October 17: University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) took out a rally to mark World Food Day. The walk commenced from Admin Block and ended at UAF Clock Tower. It was led by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali along with Dean Food Sciences Prof Dr Imran Pasha and Director General Institute of Food Sciences and Technology Prof Dr Issa Khan in which a large number of faculty members participated. Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that ensuring food security and promoting balanced nutrition are key to eliminate hunger and malnutrition. He said this year's theme, “Hand in hand for better food and a better future” calls for global solidarity in building a more sustainable and equitable food system for everyone. He said that university was committed to ensure food security with skilled manpower, tangible research work and outreach. The gathering highlighted that World Food Day is a global event focused on raising awareness and taking action against hunger and food insecurity. It was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN in 1979 . The day promotes sustainable food systems, food security, and the importance of access to nutritious food for everyone.
