FAISALABAD Oct 29, 2025: Faculty of Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) organized seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness, aiming at educating women about the alarming rise of breast cancer cases in Pakistan and emphasize the importance of timely diagnosis and prevention. Focal Person Breast Clinic Allied Hospital, Dr Aliya Shaima underlined the need to spread awareness at grassroots level to effectively tackle the growing challenge. She discussed common symptoms such as breast lumps, persistent pain and others and urged women not to ignore these warning signs. She shared that improved surgical techniques, radiation therapy, targeted drugs and hormonal therapies have made treatment more effective than ever before. She strongly advised women to consult doctors immediately if any symptom appears, stating that delays can turn treatable cases into life-threatening ones. Dr Ayesha Ayub highlighted the high mortality rate associated with breast cancer in Pakistan. She noted that thousands of women lose their lives each year due to late diagnosis and lack of awareness. She stressed that early detection can significantly increase survival chances. She urged women to undergo regular screenings and self-examinations. Director Institute of Home Sciences Dr Beenish Israr and Dr Mehwish Israr said that awareness is our first weapon and early diagnosis can save lives. She said that universities should conduct frequent awareness workshops so young women can learn to protect themselves and spread the message within their communities. Dr Ali Shehzad, Dr Muqaddas from University’s Health Center and Dr Farooq Azam also spoke on the occasion. They also took out a walk from Faculty to University clock tower.
