FAISALABAD Oct 30: Today’s era is an age of global competition and world is advancing at an unprecedented pace and only those nations are progressing that prepare their youth with research, technological skills and innovation. It was said by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali at opening session of two-day orientation for the newly-admitted students in UAF at Iqbal Auditorium arranged by Directorate of Students Affairs. Talking to the students, he urged them to turn all stones for acquiring knowledge for the uplift, dignity and honor of country as was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said the future of the country reins in the hands of the youth who are future leaders and beacon of the change in the society. He said that books are the best companion and students should spend their maximum time with the books. He stressed upon them to devote their energy and time in acquiring education which is a guarantee of the prosperity in life. He added that no nation can make the development without the skilled and quality manpower. He said that the country was blessed with tremendous talents. There is a need to tap the potential. He said that the country was running through the difficult times in terms of intolerance, poverty and other challenges. He said UAF, having global recognition, is listed as world’s 34th best university in QS ranking in agriculture and forestry. He said that varsity was making all out efforts to ensure the quality education and to provide the state-of-the-art facilities to the students. He added that the university was providing scholarships to 40 percent of the students. He said that university was putting a special focus on the research in order to address the problems of the farming community, civil society and industry. He said that only the knowledge-based economy was vital to compete with the rest of the world. All Deans shared comprehensive overviews of their respective academic divisions. They highlighted the diverse programs, research opportunities, modern facilities and practical learning environment. They encouraged students to actively engage in academic, research and co-curricular activities to assure continuous guidance and support throughout their educational journey.
