FAISALABAD Nov 2, 2025: It is essential to enhance the livestock productivity by propagating the good management practice among the farming community to lower down diseases threats in animals and increase per animal meat and milk production. It was stated by Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry University of Agriculture Faisalabad Prof Dr Qamar Bilal while addressing the workshop for farmers titled “Enhance Livestock Productivity and Good Managing Practices” arranged by Faculty of Animal Husbandry on the directives of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali. Prof Dr Qamar Bilal said that farmers must focus on balanced feed, timely vaccination and clean housing to prevent diseases like mastitis and parasitic infections in animals. He stressed upon the need to adopt scientific feeding patterns which can lead to the significant increase in milk yield and quality. He said that strengthening farmers’ capacity is the backbone of a productive livestock sector. He stressed that by equipping farmers with knowledge on feed, disease identification, breeding management and hygienic milking methods will increase production efficiency. He noted that diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and tick fever cause major losses to our farmers. Director Livestock and Dairy Development Department Nadeem Badar said that to compete internationally, we must adopt modern herd management practices. He said that strictly follow vaccination schedules, mineral supplementation and regular veterinary check-ups are key to ensuring healthy animals and increased profitability. L&DD Deputy Director Toba Tek Singh Dr Habib Sultan highlighted that healthy livestock means a prosperous farming community. L&DD Additional Director Burewala Dr Mohsin Bhatti said that regular hands-on training programs, exposure visits to model farms and access to latest research and technology enable farmers to adopt modern practices confidently. Director Animal Husbandry Dr Riaz Virk, Principal Toba Tek Singh Sub-campus Dr Zia Ur Rehman, Principal Burewala Dr Sajid Nadeem , Dr Waseem , and Dr Faisal Ramazan said that by empowering farmers with technical skills and practical demonstrations, we can transform traditional livestock farming into profit-driven sector aligned with international standards.
