FAISALABAD FEB 11: Hostel life plays vital role in shaping students’ character, discipline and sense of responsibility and living in hostels promotes unity, mutual respect, harmony and lifelong friendship among students from diverse background. It was said that by University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali during Prize Distribution Ceremony of Winning Hostels during Cleanliness and Sports Competition 2025. Chief Hall warden Dr Anwar ul Haq, Female Hall Warden Dr Humera Razzaq, Dr Jaffar Jaskani, Principal Officer Student Affairs Dr Riaz Virk and other notable also spoke on the occasion Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that cleanliness is not merely a routine activity but a reflection of discipline. He highlighted that nearly one-third of the university’s students reside in hostels, where they gain valuable learning experiences beyond classrooms and receive grooming that shapes their personalities. He congratulated the winning hostels and appreciated their commitment to maintaining a neat and healthy environment. He urged students to take part in sports and emphasized that sports are healthy activities essential for both physical fitness and mental well-being. He said that Inter-hostel sports competitions foster teamwork, unity and healthy competition. He urged students to make playgrounds vibrant during Asar and Maghrib hours instead of remaining confined within four walls and attached to mobile phones. He particularly stressed the need to ensure equal opportunities for women, who constitute 60 percent of the population. In the male hostels category, Fateh Hall secured first position, followed by Afzal Hall in second place, while Halley Hall stood third. In the female hostels category, Qazzafi Hall and Tipu Hall claimed first position, Sir Syed Hall secured second place and Khalid Hall achieved third position. Chief Hall warden Dr Anwar ul Haq emphasized that inter-hostel activities help groom students and develop leadership qualities. He assured continued support of providing safe, inclusive and well-managed hostels for all students. Female Hall Warden Dr Humera Razzaq said that a clean hostels environment promotes healthy living, mutual respect and a positive learning atmosphere. She encouraged students to actively participate in cleanliness drives and sports activities for personal and collective growth. Dr Jaffar Jaskani said that neat and healthy environment not only promotes physical well-being but also enhances academic performances. He urged all students to make cleanliness a permanent habit, not just a competition activity. Principal Officer Student Affairs Dr Riaz Virk called for promoting the sport culture in the students.
