FAISALABAD March 15: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali called on Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar in Islamabad and discussed the areas of quality education and research. Dr Niaz Ahmad said that the UAF, being the first agricultural university of the subcontinent, had played a pivotal role in agricultural education and research and problems-solving of agriculture sector. He said that the universities remain the primary centres for the creation and transformation of knowledge. He said that it was era of digitalization. He said that HEC has made mandatory for all public and private universities to introduce on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in degree programs. He said: “Universities must create and transform knowledge, inculcate skills, and produce responsible and civilized citizens for society,”. He said that HEC allocates substantial resources to research and will continue facilitating researchers through funding and supportive initiatives. Dr Zulfiqar Ali congratulated Dr Niaz on assuming the charge of Chairman HEC and hoped that under his patronage, the higher education sector will flourish rapidly. He that all-out efforts are being made to drive the change that will transform its research, learning, innovation, and outreach to advance sustainable development. He added that UAF has implemented e-Filing system, ensuing e-tracking of files, operational efficiency, cost sustainability, data security and merit-based governance. He said we are responsible to broaden UAF’s global engagement and extension efforts so we can effectively respond to emerging agricultural challenges and drive sustainable progress.
