FAISALABAD March 17: The 3rd meeting of the National Steering Committee (NSC) of the project “Establishment of Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC) to Improve Child and Community Nutrition (Revised)” was held at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, UAF. During the meeting, the NSC reviewed the progress and mid-term achievements of the PKNC project and expressed satisfaction over the significant milestones achieved in research, training, and nutrition awareness across the country. The NSC also reviewed the award of competitive national research and policy grants and start-up support aimed at promoting innovation in nutrition research and food systems. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Ch., Vice Chancellor, Faisalabad Medical University, Mr. Je Ho Yeon, Country Director, KOICA Pakistan Office, Dr. Arif Rehman, Chief, Food & Agriculture, Planning Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Nazeer Ahmed, Chief (Nutrition), Planning Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Mian Mitha, Corporate Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Manager, Nestle Pakistan Ltd., Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa, Central Project Director, PKNC, Syed Zeeshan Ishfaq Bukhary, Treasurer/CFO UAF, Prof. Dr. Sultan Habibullah, Director-ORIC, UAF, Prof. Dr. Imran Pasha, Dean FFN&HS, UAF, Focal Persons of Provincial Partners and PKNC Thematic Chairs. The agenda of the meeting was presented by Mr. Irfan Abbas, Director-Planning & Development, UAF. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further strengthen outreach, research commercialization, and policy advocacy to address malnutrition and promote healthier communities in Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, UAF Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts made by the PKNC team and thanked all stakeholders for their continued support and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to ensure the success and sustainability of the PKNC initiative. The members lauded the project’s efforts in strengthening national capacity through training programs for clinical dietitians, lady health workers, and school advisors, as well as through collaborative initiatives with partner institutions across Pakistan.
