FAISALABAD Mar 18: The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) and Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to promote handball through training facilities, technical support and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The LoL was duly inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali and Pakistan Handball Federation President Muhammad Shafiq at Syndicate Room. Under this partnership, UAF will provide its existing handball hard court, sand court and indoor facilities, and National Handball Academy and High-Performance Resource Center (HPRC). Director External Linkages Dr Muhammad Tehseen Azhar, Principal Officer Sports Dr Haroon Zaman, Director Sports Muhammad Atif Shafiq, Assistant Director Farooq Iqbal and other notables attended. According to the terms of the LoI, PHF will facilitate the provision of synthetic flooring for the National Handball Academy indoor hall. The federation will also provide qualified coaches and technical human resources to train students and support the academy’s operations. Additionally, PHF will assist UAF in organizing intervarsity and inter-faculty handball competitions. On the other hand, UAF will extend full support by offering facilities for handball events, providing office space for PHF at the campus and maintaining the courts for training and competitions. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that the initiative will open new avenues for students to excel in sports alongside academics. He stressed upon the need to develop the sportsman spirit among the students and motivate them towards sports activities. Muhammad Shafiq expressed their commitment to uplifting handball standards across the country and termed the collaboration with UAF a significant step towards achieving excellence in the sport.
