FAISALABASD April 23: In a world that is rapidly evolving, the understanding of human diversity is no longer a choice, it is a necessity. It was said by Dr Imtiaz Dogar, the Head Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Faisalabad Medical University while addressing a seminar titled “Embracing Neurocognitive Differences: Acceptance is First Step”. The event was organized by the Institute of Home Sciences at University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). Dr Imtiaz said that neurocognitive differences are not weaknesses, they are not limitations and they are certainly not something to be fixed instead they are variations of the human mind. He said that every individual has unique abilities that deserve recognition and respect. He stressed that it is our collective responsibility to create supportive environments where individuals feel valued, understood and included, so they can confidently contribute to society. Dean Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences Dr Imran Pasha said that awareness and understanding must go hand in hand with progress. He noted that the theme of this seminar highlights a very simple yet powerful message—that every individual deserves respect, acceptance and equal opportunities. Dr Samreen Afzal briefed about thinking pattern and psychological aspects. She said that such platforms play an important role in promoting awareness, understanding and mutual respect in our society. Director Institute of Home Sciences Dr Beenish Israr said that as members of an academic community, it is our responsibility to promote a culture that values diversity in all its forms. She said that differences are a natural part of human variation and by acknowledging this we take a step toward building a more inclusive environment.
