The Chinese Consul General, H.E. Mr. Sun Yan visted University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

FAISALABAD May 14: The Chinese Consul General, H.E. Mr. Sun Yan, has reaffirmed that agricultural cooperation remains the top priority in the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), further strengthening the brotherly ties between the two nations. Speaking at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), he appreciated the role of UAF’s Confucius Institute in fostering people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and friendship. During his visit to the Confucius institute and the Expo Center, a signing ceremony was held to establish two new subsets of the Confucius Institute at Faisalabad Medical University and the University of Poonch Rawalakot. H.E. Mr. Sun Yan remarked that over 75 years of diplomatic history, China and Pakistan have remained good neighbors and good brothers. With CPEC’s second phase launched in 2025, the focus has shifted to economic growth, livelihoods, innovation, and green development, with agriculture, industry, IT, and mining as key sectors. He shared impressive gains in Pak-China agriculture cooperation including hybrid rice and rapeseed cultivation, hybrid rice yield. A new livestock technology agreement focusing on the export of meat to china has also been signed earlier, he added. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali indicated that 100 UAF faculty members are graduates of Chinese universities, and several joint laboratories have already produced patented technologies. he Confucius Institute at UAF, a top-model institute globally, has trained over 35,000 students in Chinese language and culture, and now links with 13 universities across Pakistan. This year, seven new sub-campuses have been approved in different universities. As a founding member of the Confucius Institute Global Agriculture Alliance, UAF continues to serve as a primary gateway for Sino-Pak collaboration, offering its diverse climate and fields for testing Chinese technology. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali (Vice Chancellor, UAF), Dr. Zafar Ali Ch (Vice Chancellor, Faisalabad Medical University), Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakir (Vice Chancellor, University of Poonch Rawalakot), Dr. Amanullah Malik (Rector, The University of Faisalabad), Dr. Saddam Hussain (Dean, Confucius Institute, UAF), along with deans, directors, and other distinguished guests.
