FAISALABAD Aug 13: An Asian Development Bank (ADB) team, comprising Dr. Ahmad Nawaz, Dr. Amanullah, Dr. A. D. Babar and former ADB senior specialist Noriko Sato, visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) to discuss the ADB-supported agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions project affiliated with the Punjab Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Project (P-CLAMP) of the Government of Punjab. The delegation held a meeting with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, while the project is being led by Prof. Dr. Abdul Wakeel, Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences, UAF. The project is a pioneering study in Pakistan aimed at developing country-specific GHG emission factors for eight major crops. The findings are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s national GHG inventory, support the updating of Pakistan’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and create opportunities for the country’s agriculture sector to access emerging global carbon markets while contributing to international climate and environmental commitments.
