The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Engro Fertilizers have agreed to further expand their collaboration in agricultural research, crop nutrition, farmer training and capacity building.

FAISALABAD, Sept 25: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Engro Fertilizers have agreed to further expand their collaboration in agricultural research, crop nutrition, farmer training and capacity building. The understanding was reached during a meeting between UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and a delegation of Engro Fertilizers led by General Manager Agronomy Mr. Anees Amin. Deputy Manager Operations Mr. Sabit Ali Baloch and Dr. Shahid were also present. The meeting reviewed the activities of the Engro Learning Centre at UAF and discussed balanced and efficient fertilizer use in crops. Engro Fertilizers expressed its intention to expand the nutrition omission multi-location trials program in collaboration with UAF to generate field-based evidence for improved fertilizer recommendations and nutrient-use efficiency. Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali stressed the need for stronger university-industry linkages to develop practical, affordable and science-based solutions to challenges facing agriculture, including rising input costs, water scarcity, climate change and declining soil health. He said UAF would continue to facilitate collaborative research, industry-supported training, demonstration activities and practical learning opportunities for students and researchers. Mr. Anees Amin reaffirmed Engro Fertilizers’ commitment to supporting agricultural research, knowledge sharing and capacity building. He highlighted the company’s initiatives at UAF, including internships, collaborative research, nutrition demonstration plots and training programs. Mr. Anees also invited UAF experts, led by the Vice Chancellor, to visit the Engro Dharki Plant for technical interaction and to explore further areas of collaboration. It was further agreed that UAF and Engro Fertilizers would jointly organize a seminar-cum-consultative session on the efficient use of potassium, involving university experts, industry representatives, researchers, and extension professionals to discuss crop nutrition and practical fertilizer management.
