FAISALABAD September 21: Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and University of Agriculture Faisalabad will collaborate on capacity building and skill enhancement for the farming community in different agricultural domains under the PSDF’s Skills for Agriculture and Green Environment (SAGE) program. It was discussed at a meeting of Head of Program Design Mirza Akbar Hussain and PSDF Chief Financial Officer Syed Farrukh Jafri with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali at Syndicate Room UAF. During the meeting, both sides deliberated on launching specialized short courses aimed at youth and the farming community. they discusued the seed technology, livestock management, irrigation, fertilizer applications, as well as climate-smart practices, water management, and renewable energy integrations. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali stressed the need to equip rural youth and farmers with modern technical skills to address ongoing challenges in production, climate resilience, and resource efficiency. He said that industry-aligned, practical training program partnerships with organizations like PSDF are pivotal to translating scientific research into field-level practices and improving per-acre yields. Mirza Akbar Hussain said that Skills for Agriculture & Green Environment (SAGE) aims to train and certify 20,000 youth in priority green trades across Punjab, aligning skills development with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national green policies. He said Through SAGE, PSDF aims to strengthen pathways into emerging green agriculture opportunities and build a skilled, climate-resilient workforce in Punjab.
